St. Andrew’s Alumni Spotlight: Lindsay Scherr Burgess ‘00, Founder of Green Wallscapes

In this St. Andrew’s alumni spotlight, Lindsay Scherr Burgess ’00 shares how her journey from student to entrepreneur led her to found Green Wallscapes, a West Palm Beach based studio specializing in custom preserved moss walls, moss logos, and large-scale biophilic art installations. What began in 2016 as a creative experiment inspired by a Pinterest post and launched through a small Etsy shop has since grown into a nationally recognized business serving clients nationally.
In the interview, Lindsay reflects on how her time at St. Andrew’s School helped shape the skills she relies on today as a business owner. She credits the school’s strong emphasis on writing, critical thinking, and communication, for building the confidence she now brings to sales presentations, client consultations, and national brand partnerships.
Lindsay also shares how early exposure to architectural projects through her husband’s work in LEED certification revealed increasing demand for green wall design in commercial spaces. As living green walls became more frequently specified in large-scale developments, she recognized an opportunity to create high-quality, maintenance-free preserved moss wall installations that deliver the benefits of biophilic design without ongoing upkeep.
Lindsay’s entrepreneurial growth, commitment to continuous learning, and leadership in the preserved moss wall and sustainable interior design industry is admirable. Today, Green Wallscapes has completed installations for major brands including Starbucks, Stella Artois, and Amazon, as well as corporate headquarters, offices, hospitality spaces, studios, and luxury residences nationwide. Through Green Wallscapes, she continues helping brands and businesses across North America bring nature indoors with innovative, large-scale moss art installations.
