Bringing Calm, Connection, and Nature Into Senior Living Spaces
Great design doesn’t just shape how a space looks. Great design impacts the way a space feels.
That principle guided our creation of the above custom “Aquatica” preserved moss wall, designed to enhance shared spaces through texture, color, and a subtle connection to nature for the senior citizens living at the Freedom Village of Bradenton.
Designing With Well-Being in Mind
In senior living environments, design plays a unique role. Spaces must be:
-
Visually engaging
-
Comfortable and calming
-
Supportive of social interaction
The goal isn’t simply to impress, it’s to create an environment where people feel at ease.
The “Aquatica” Concept
Inspired by water and movement, the installation features flowing patterns of blues and greens that evoke a natural landscape.
Rather than dominating the space, it complements it by adding depth and interest while maintaining a sense of calm.

A Practical Solution for High-Use Spaces
Preserved moss is particularly well-suited for communal environments because it:
-
Requires no maintenance or irrigation
-
Remains consistent over time
-
Withstands frequent use without disruption
The Impact: Subtle but Meaningful
The wall becomes a focal point of the space. And, due to its biophilic design, it enhances the space without overwhelming it.
As a result, residents gather, spend time, and engage more naturally in an environment that feels thoughtfully designed.
